Jennisei Art

Jennisei (b. 1991, Espoo) is a visual artist based in Helsinki, Finland. She works with painting, carving, and wood burning on birch plywood, combining mixed media techniques such as oil, acrylic, watercolour, dry pastel, and pencil on a wooden surface.

Her work explores identity in the age of social media, the fragile, constantly negotiated space between who we are and how we are seen. The layered structure of birch plywood becomes a material metaphor for identity itself. Where the digital image is fleeting and endlessly editable, plywood is patient, physical, and irreversible. Each cut stays.

Much of her work begins in the Nordic North, particularly in the Lyngen Fjord and Finnish Lapland, where quiet observations form the starting point of her practice.

Jenni graduated from Taidekoulu Alfa in 2026. Her thesis exhibition Kaikuuko kaivon pohjalla? (Does it echo at the bottom of the well?) is on view at Kappelitehdas, Helsinki, in May 2026.
